Mid river slammer today
Phil M. | Sandyston | Wednesday April 10th 8:24 pm
RPS, I was up your way Tuesday, but only fished for shad for 45 minutes. Was having an algae problem on almost every cast. Did you experience that?
charlie 1st | yardley to Frenchtown | Wednesday April 10th 8:21 pm
We pulverized them today, some real nice size roe with some smaller bucks mixed in this evening and some doubles too. poor mans dr's got the fish as usual in 8' of water. Moved around to some different spots to keep it interesting finding fish in all the locations. Nothing on darts.
RPS | Greeley | Wednesday April 10th 7:25 pm

Ds | Bethlehem | Wednesday April 10th 6:22 pm

ShadHarris | Water Gap (that crappy launch) | Wednesday April 10th 9:36 am
With all the excitement to launch Worthington yesterday afternoon, it was quickly dampened when rangers had entrance to park blocked right off Rt 80 exit.. Reason? A controlled burn up on the mountain got out of hand. Therefore - first time I ever launched at the gap ramp and what a crappy ramp that is - long and narrow, with a 45 degree bend near the water which tests the trailer backing up skills, and also ramp is covered in mud. Do not know that water to shad fish, just had heard it is very deep. I like 6-9 feet for anchoring, where that dept is the main channel. Water was 15-50 feet deep most of that stretch! Tried either side of the island in the depths I like but no marks and no hits. Tried running up to Shawnee where I wanted to fish, but smoke was too thick and not good for the lungs so headed back. Anchored below rt 80 bridge in super fast 15' of water near NJ side and got one small buck. At least did not get skunked but was not happy! Bad enough I could not go to Poxono from Millbrook side and won't be able to entire season, they screwed me out of Worthington. In retrospect - I wish I just went up to Smithfield - would have been a smarter choice and could have fished familiar waters.
Kyle | Pen Argyl | Wednesday April 10th 4:46 am
Fished harmony area tues 330-630 , water 49 degrees ,landed 11 lost 5, & 1 walleye, all on spoons ..mix of roe& buck.
Ken | Conowingo Dam, Deer Cr | Wednesday April 10th 1:22 am
I was there on Monday. Dam was in spill condition. Fisherman's Park was closed, so no one was fishing there. I went to the mouth of Deer Cr. The creek was clear and the Susky was chocolate milk. Water level was very high. There were some fishermen catching hickories on double dart rigs. No hits for me.
RPS | Greeley | Tuesday April 9th 7:51 pm
Fished Zane Grey tonight 4 - 6:30 pm got 2 shad and a chub water temp.48.74 deg.
Whitetail | Shohola | Tuesday April 9th 6:59 pm
Well it has begun 3 for 3 from four to six. Couple bumps nice to have a couple on at least. Water temp around 50 Water height not bad. The rain will mess it up again but with warmer temps. They'll hit
Mike | | Tuesday April 9th 5:36 pm
Any info on conowingo if they are hitting yet?
Hegotacamel | Washingtonscrossing | Tuesday April 9th 2:11 pm

Under the Radar | Piscataway | Monday April 8th 9:18 am
Oh. BTW. As far as the roads go, this little roadblock ain't nothing compared to the changes when they make it a National Park. Enjoy what you can while you can!
Under the Radar | Piscataway | Monday April 8th 8:43 am
I've seen the gauges but has anyone has eyes on the river at Milford, Pa. Thinking about going tomorrow. Supposed to be a nice day for a change. Thanks in advance!

THE NEW NUMBER FOR THE SHAD HOTLINE SPOSORED BY THE DELWARE RIVER SHAD FISHERMENS ASSN IS BACK IN SERVICE..THE NEW NUMBER IS 610-774-8116
| | Sunday April 7th 1:02 pm
I would expect it to be open all the way to Millbrook until construction actually begins. Check Worthington facebook page for details.
Phil M. | Sandyston | Sunday April 7th 1:00 pm
Also, hard to believe they can accomplish all that is projected with $11 million. With the labor and supplies needed, you can burn through just 1 million $ so fast it would make your head spin.
Tom T | denville | Sunday April 7th 8:18 am
Aside from all the doubletalk is Old Mine Rd open from Rte 80 to the campgrounds?
Denis C | Branchville,NJ | Sunday April 7th 7:46 am
I doubt the government is doing much with the roads in the Millbrook area. Cobblestone wheelchair ramps and million-dollar outhouses take priority these days, Disney on the Delaware is the mantra. There is no thought process about the seasons that people use the river for even if the tradition goes back 100 years. Whatever they can waste the most taxpayer money on will be on the things to do list.
ShadHarris | really-pissed-off-ville | Saturday April 6th 11:29 am
MY WORST FREAKING NIGHTMARE! Why can't they allow access on Old Mine road concurrent to construction???? You will only be able to access Worthington from Rt 80, and POXONO Launch and that entire stretch from N Worthington to Millbrook village will be closed entire spring thorugh summer. NO ACESS FOR SHAD FISHERMAN!!! https://wrnjradio.com/delaware-water-gap-national-recreation-area-announces-11m-infrastructure-investment-to-overhaul-old-mine-rd-on-nj-side-of-park/ I guess the silver lining is next season will finally have nice roads through this stretch
Hegotacamel | Washingtonscrossing | Friday April 5th 8:06 pm
Went down to take a look at river scary high moving fast and lots of boat sinkers coming down.so much for early season.
Denis C | Branchville,NJ | Friday April 5th 7:40 am
Weather service already has us slated for another inch to an inch and a quarter of rain Wednesday through Friday next week. I hope the storm pattern changes soon.
Richard Fasanello | | Wednesday April 3rd 3:43 pm
Early in my shad fishing career we had one, maybe two seasons like this. It would have been late 60s or early 70s. Same thing every week. Water up to top of riverbank. If I remember correctly CA was in a similar pattern. Three storms per week but only one reaching us.
Joseph C. | Phoenixville, PA / Ewing, NJ | Wednesday April 3rd 10:57 am
Phil M....The spool was connected to an impatient hand on one end and a light leader on the other. I since learned that there have been a few large-ish stripers landed recently where I was fishing. --- Below Lambertville I caught fish last week with the Trenton gage reading just under 12'. The water clarity was excellent, though. We won't see that again for a few days,
Hegotacamel | Washingtonscrossing | Wednesday April 3rd 10:34 am
River already a mess flood stage by Friday will be unsafe and unfishable for a week .here we go again !
ShadHarris | | Wednesday April 3rd 10:30 am
Tocks Island forecast is saying cresting 14.7 feet late Thursday, dropping to 12' over weekend. i consider 9' to be about the limitations for fishing N of water gap, some may push a little beyond that mark... 6.5' is when river is at "normal" levels. And running low to mid 40's water temps... This weather is beyond depressing. NJ has been like living in Seattle past few years....
Rustyballs | | Tuesday April 2nd 9:47 pm
Easton river gauge says 17 ft by Friday omg

Phil M. | Sandyston | Monday April 1st 1:32 pm
Joseph C., were you using a shallow or a deep spool?
Commander | Mid river | Sunday March 31st 11:25 pm
Radar: it’s not too early. A lot of fish through Easton already.
Joseph C. | Phoenixville, PA / Ewing, NJ | Sunday March 31st 3:26 pm
...oh, and had my first of the year mystery run-off experience. I was last-casting myself and got a solid hit. Yay! The fish proceeded to run down river at speed until I applied a little extra pressure on the spool and broke it off. I didn't have waders to chase it and was going to get spooled if the fish had its way. It's happened to me a few time over the years and I always assert that it was a sturgeon. I know that it could just as easily have been a musky or a big fat catfish. Happy Easter everybody!
Joseph C. | Phoenixville, PA / Ewing, NJ | Sunday March 31st 2:52 pm
Well, I've chased off the skunk. I fished mid-day on Friday below Lambertville and caught 2 very energetic bucks on darts. I tried again yesterday a little later in the day, same place, and didn't get so much as a bump. The water dropped nicely from one day to the next and the clarity was excellent. I might try tomorrow early PM if the rain doesn't muck things up too much.
Under the Radar | Piscataway | Sunday March 31st 2:31 pm
Took a ride to Easton this morning. Only saw one boat in the water. Chomping at the bit, butt afraid it's just a little early. The best is yet to come!

Phil M. | Sandyston | Wednesday March 27th 6:48 pm
Commander McBragg: I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think it's a special area and should be protected. Let's hear from some others.
