Everyone should call the Delaware park to open dingmans launch. It now wont be open till the end of may. Why is it closed. All other ramps are open.

ShadHarris | Gap to Millbrook Village | Tuesday April 7th 10:31 am
PSA - "real time" update on the section of road from Rt 80, through Worthington, to past Poxono ramp, to Millbrook Village. Entire stretch is being shut down by state and feds, due to excessive garbage left by HIKERS causing health hazard due to virus. My buddy just got turned away at Millbrook section of Old Mine road as he was heading to Poxono. Last few times I been over there including yesterday never in my life seen so many people out and about hiking... Well the effing slobs ruined it for us fisherman!!! This is closing off a major section of shad fishing for boaters and shore fisherman!!!!

I fished the Schuylkill yesterday for the top of the tide and first couple hours of the falling. It was very slow, with 1 shad landed of 2 hooked. I had the best fight of the year on one hookup, the fish screamed down river for what felt like 3o or 40 yards. That was after I thought I'd hooked a rock and had even tried to jiggle it free. In the middle of the fight it got stuck again and I had to just let it run for a few seconds to free itself. It turned out to be a 25" catfish, hooked in the tail by my trailer dart and the pectoral by the leader dart....and the trailer was broken off when I netted it.
Kyle | Pen Argyl | Tuesday April 7th 7:01 am
Fished with my daughter 1-530, water temp 51 degrees and clear, she got 5 and lost 2, 1 very large roe!, she let me reel in 3 , all caught on down riggers , spoons& microdarts.
Phil M. | Sandyston | Monday April 6th 10:08 pm
(Wader fishing) Fish are all throughout the river, they were just waiting for the right temp. Maybe the full moon, clear sky and high barometer helped, I don't know. My buddy and me scored heavily 25 miles above Port Jervis. That's right. We hit cockfish between 2:30pm and 4:15pm, then there was a lull until 5:15 and then the hens showed up. Wild action with many spectacular jumps of 3 and 4 feet. Several double-headers. 1/8th oz. darts of different colors. I caught some on my 54 year-old Shakespeare model 2052 ultralight reel and a medium action rod. Quit at 6:30pm with fatigued lower-back. Beats the hell out of sitting home washing your hands.
ShadHarris | North of Water Gap | Monday April 6th 8:30 pm
fished 5:15 to 7:15 North of water gap area. Hooked 3 landed 2 bucks. My buddy got one. Saw another buddy get 4 while we were there. Very slow pick but it's still early. Lots of guys out fishing did not see any others caught. Perfect conditions. River is normal level and crystal clear, right around 50 degrees.
Rob Wright | Montague | Monday April 6th 6:46 pm
Fished Milford from 2pm to 5pm. Caught 12. All roe. Red and white
She got a horse | Riegelsville | Monday April 6th 6:11 pm
On water by 11am and 2 right way. Called the fam and picked them up at noon and only one trout to boat all the way until 5pm. Beautiful day. A bit slow. 52F.
Paul G | Dingmans | Monday April 6th 5:50 pm
What is the reason for closing Dingmans? Does anyone know if they will be closing other launches?
Keith | Narberth | Monday April 6th 4:33 pm
My younger son and I fished the Schuylkill River yesterday afternoon for a few hours just below the Fairmount Dam. The tide was heading out. We were trying for stripers, with no luck. You can't keep American Shad there, but a couple of the other folks were catching what they said were gizzard shad. Apparently they use them as cut bait for stripers. Martin Luther King Dr. is closed, so we rode our bikes to the spot by the fish ladder.

Dennis Scholl | Riegelsville | Monday April 6th 1:00 pm
I’m on the river at Riegelsville. This is Monday, 5 April. It is a gorgeous day but absolutely no one here is catching shad. Water temperature at 11:15 was 52°. Conditions are nice but the fish aren’t moving through at the moment or perhaps as all schools are doing now, this is the time of day for their online Learning. I am just happy to be out on the water. I missed all of last year. If I catch anything I’ll post it.
ShadHarris | | Monday April 6th 12:48 pm
Craig - Eshback and Bushkill are good spots. Bushkill is a "real" boat ramp and Eshback is gravel only, and larger boats extremely difficult to launch. Also with eshback, if the river get to be much over 2 feet higher than normal, it becomes treacherous to launch there. Lots of different types of water between eshback and bushkill. Long been my favorite areas, when it's fishable.
JJ | Bethlehem | Monday April 6th 11:58 am
Finally found them this morning. Third trip out to Easton. First half hour after sunrise they hit like crazy. Green darts worked best. Hooked three landed one.
Mike Dudas | Piscataway | Monday April 6th 10:27 am
Fish Milford. Only 7 miles north of Dingman's
Craig | Dingman's Ferry | Monday April 6th 10:26 am
We usually fish out of the ramp at Dingman's Ferry but just got notice that it will be closed until almost the end of May. Any helpful information or tips for fishing out of Eshback or maybe Bushkill access? Just looking for anything to point us in the right direction in those stretches so we can catch some fish until they open our ramp back up.
Mike Dudas | Piscataway | Monday April 6th 8:31 am
Fished Sunday morning @ Milford. Had an hour delay because the guy right in front of me backed his truck into the water while trying to get his boat out. Can't make this stuff up. Once I got in, went 1 for 4. Three of the bites were just slapping at the spoon. One bite was good and he got to the boat. Water still a little cold.
Kurt G. Miller | Northampton | Sunday April 5th 9:56 pm
Finally caught my first shad of the year on my third outing. Actually, I hooked 7, landed 5. One on downrigger, the rest on crankbait rig. Orange and black on gold were the only colors that worked. Very tough day. But from 3:45 to 5:15, I had decent action at the Lehigh River confluence island.
Kyle | Pen Argyl | Sunday April 5th 8:47 pm

Any news up north this way. Was thinking of trying it this week. Also is dingmans launch open? Thanks & safe fishing to all
Tubeman | Slatington | Sunday April 5th 7:22 pm
Shadharris r you taken north of water gap
Team Toothy | Easton | Sunday April 5th 6:55 pm
Gave Easton a shot from 3:35-5:15 today. No Shad for me but I saw boat land a few. One hookup likely a Shad, and a small walleye about 10” hit a dart for me. Talked to couple other guys wading that didn’t hit Shad either. Oh well, hopefully the numbers are here next week.
ShadHarris | Just North of gap | Sunday April 5th 6:16 pm
Got out just N of gap with my son in the boat. Slow very slow action. 1:30-4:30, 7 hookups, 3 netted, all small bucks. I was in the absolute best spot of the river, where I have gotten 15-20 shad an hour with ease in the past in mid-April. Good conditions, water 49 and rising. The fishfinder was only marking a few fish here and there which explained the lack of action, but hey it's fishing and it's still early. Saw 3 shore guys hookup with a couple but slow for them too. Had a bit of drama to start. Left ramp, boat up on plain and engine cut out. Ball would not pump - no suction at all. I removed the 4 screws holding the gas line connection to the tank - and my suspicion confirmed - the plastic tube with a filter at the end disconnected from the valve and was underneath 4.5 gallons of gas. Needed to drain the tank to fish it out. What to do? Had a 4 gallon empty chlorine bucket. Poured gas into that, but still half gallon remaining. Have a cut laundry soap container for a boat bailer / "pee jug". That took the remainder of the gas. Fished out the plastic tube and reconnected... VERY loose will not trust it again have to replace... Scooped gas out of pail with boat bailer and back in business

Fished 845am to 10am from shore. Landed 7 and lost about twice that many. Fished again from 545pm to 730pm from shore with a buddy and we landed 6. Didn't lose any. All were on a spoon with some chartreuse on it. Good times!!!

JohnnyK, next time I'm heading to Easton I'll give you some warning and maybe we can meet up. It's an awesome location to fish and I've had my best days ever there. It's chest wader territory.

JohnnyK | Bucks | Saturday April 4th 7:49 am
Thanks Joseph C, that gives me hope as I do as well. Congrats on the double, that’s awesome! I’ve yet to catch even 1 ever, I hooked one as a kid once but lost it about 10’ out. Maybe this is my year.
Joseph C. | Phoenixville / Princeton | Saturday April 4th 7:13 am
JohnnyK - I fish from the shore, and yesterday had dry feet, even. I've had offers for a boat ride, but it's never worked out.... One thing happened yesterday that surprised me. I hooked a double, and landed them both! I can't remember that happening for me with American shad, especially.
JohnnyK | Bucks | Friday April 3rd 9:47 pm
Are you guys in boats or wading?
Joseph C. | Phoenixville / Princeton | Friday April 3rd 5:53 pm
Today was hard fishing with winds of 20 + the whole time I was there, but it turned out to be the kind of day I fantasized about all winter. I went 17 for about 20, all Americans and about 75% roes. I was throwing a double dart rig, and most of the fish hit the smaller trailing dart, except for when I was only using one dart because the trailer was broken off. The fish didn't care much about color. So, I'm not going to tell you where I was fishing beyond saying that it was in PA, and sort of on my way home. WG, I suggest you head north and try the spot where you taught me the rudiments of the shad. I met Chris on his way over the bridge from the ball field as I was leaving. Small world!

Joseph C! I’m finally and hope you and yours all good as well! I’ve been out everyday since March 9 shad fishing and doing quite well! Lots of hickory shad as I’ve been staying “south” of the Delaware! Closer to my home .... the latest drop in temps has kept me down that way, not much in the mood to report about down there as it’s been nice and quiet and I like the solitude. As usual the shad are here in force in March and conditions have been good IF you are in the right place at right time....the water temp drop of 5 degrees definitely shut the bite down, but rest assured they are still there ....Chris is a great kid btw! Tell him I said hi
Joseph C. | Phoenixvlle / Princeton | Thursday April 2nd 8:31 am
Estcu, I feel much better! Thanks! I think it's going to turn on in the whole lower river as soon as night time temps stay over 50F. WG, you've been very quiet. (These days my mind immediately leaps to concerns for somebody's health when I don't hear from them. I hope all's well with you and yours.) I met a fella named Chris who's known you a long time fishing the Schuylkill. I think you taught him his main shad skills as well.
