I gave the Schuylkill a shot for less than 1 hour yesterday afternoon. It was just past high tide. Water temp about 46F. No joy. It looks like they are about to close the MLK Drive bridge between the Art Museum and the west side of the river for repairs on 3/27. We'll see if this is going to make Schuylkill fishing areas inaccessible or nearly so.

A triple dart rig with two double overhand knots and an improved clinch knot is best. Post pics of your triples.

George | Bordentown boat ramp | Saturday March 18th 10:38 pm
Dave, thanks for that information.
Dave | Robbinsville, NJ | Saturday March 18th 12:27 pm
George, The Bordentown boat ramp is technically located on Crosswick’s Creek, which is a tributary to the Delaware River. NJ Regs specify fishing for Shad is open on the “main stem” only. Beware that fishing at the Bordentown boat ramp is a ticket waiting for a place to happen!
George | Bordentown | Friday March 17th 10:17 pm
Bordentown boat ramp, Arm and Hammer ballpark, Fireman’s Eddy, and Lambertville wing dam. In tide water, first hour of incoming tide is best. I have flutter spoons for sale at 50 cents each.
Joseph C. | Phoenixville, PA / Ewing, NJ | Friday March 17th 3:17 pm
3 nice shad landed and 1 LDR. Double dart rig fishing from shore on the D. My best 1st shad trip of the season ever. Henry, be careful what you wish for!
Henry W | Sewell NJ | Friday March 17th 2:32 pm
Went fishing from the shore around 630 am at Lambertville then moved to the arm and hammer ball park. The water was so low you could basically walk across the river. Will it get any better this season? And are there good places along the shore for shad fishing?
Joseph C. | Phoenixville & Princeton | Friday March 17th 9:04 am
Capt. Alex Craig, Thanks for your 1st shad of the year report. 40.2F! Awesome! I'm heartened, and believing is halfway to success at this time of year.
JOSEPH CHRISTOPHER | Phoenixville & Princeton | Friday March 17th 7:22 am
I think I'm heading to take my first shot at the Schuylkill this afternoon. Darts from shore. A low percentage proposition, but I have a lot of hope.
George Horvath | Duck Island power plant | Monday March 13th 10:51 pm
Duck Island power plant is closed and two warehouses are there now. There is no longer a public fishing area. The Old Wharf is being rebuilt near the railroad bridge. You can fish behind Arm and Hammer ballpark in Trenton.
Henry Welch | Sewell NJ | Monday March 13th 6:41 pm
Can anyone tell me if shad fishing at the Trenton Power Plant is still an option? Not sure if you can still fish there?
Capt. Alex Craig | Green Lane, PA & Hatteras, NC | Sunday March 12th 8:59 pm

Last harrah.fishing Worthington track mainly to check on fish numbers in spawning rapids.caught my last 2 shad still fresh and strong on small dart early.then put gear away and observed for 2 hours.did not see many fish spawning a few dead ones on beach.normally there would be thousands of fish stacked up here now but I saw maybe 50 in 2 hours of watching.numbers are definitely way down .i have been at this for 50 years and talk to a lot of people from game wardens to park rangers to fishing guides to old river rats like me and they all agree.hopefully things will improve and they will allow more liberal limits on the stripers and other predators.
Duke E Smith | Bethlehem | Thursday June 9th 7:19 am
Fished narrowsburg yesterday.caught 11 on fly rod including 2 on a sulfur dry fly during evening hatch fishing for trout.this puzzles me as I have caught them before up here like this and they were purposefully hitting the flies on top and r stuffed full of them.spawning just starting up here lots of fresh fish plenty of smart trout as well.will probably go up further next week if river doesn't get blown out.
Charles Mc | Around Eshback. | Thursday June 2nd 7:12 pm
Only 2 today. I’m done for this year. 238 caught and released. Good season. All caught while wade fishing. See you on here next year.
| | Thursday June 2nd 7:04 am
Fished lordville Tue and wed and crushed them.fishing was best early morning and evening.Small spoons worked well color unimportant lots of fresh fish up here not spawning yet.water temp is 49.
| | Tuesday May 31st 4:05 pm
Water temps of 70 and up overstress shad and cause a high mortality. Those aware of this usually don't fish in those conditions.
Duke E Smith | Bethlehem | Tuesday May 31st 11:02 am
Fished Milford today and whooped em.stopped counting after 50 on spinning rod caught 17 on fly rod .pretty much every cast from 530 til 930 then it slowed down to a trickle.also got a nice striper on dart.all on red and white small dart no weight and flashy orange fly.fish r spawning now lots of dead ones as well.might get another week in water is warming up.need to go above narrowsburg for best fishing cooler water soon.
Charles Mc | Around Eshback. | Sunday May 29th 6:09 pm
30 caught and released today. Saw lots of Shad moving upriver while I was fishing. 236 caught and released so far. 3 or 4 more outings and I’m done. Think I can hit the 300 mark.
